Mayors Message

As Mayor of the Gold Coast, I'm delighted to welcome this year's Schoolies to our city to celebrate completing their secondary school education

While the Gold Coast has much to offer visitors of all ages, our city's glorious weather and modernity are particularly suited to young people's pursuits, and I can think of no better place than the Gold Coast for Schoolies to unwind before embarking on tertiary studies or beginning a career.

You could visit one of our many theme parks, take a day trip to World Heritage-listed national parkland, enjoy some of our waterways, do some shopping, or visit the world-famous Gold Coast beaches. And as always, there's a wide range of activities and events especially for Schoolies, so you'll run out of time on the Coast before you run out of things to do here.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for Schoolies Week 2009, which I'm sure will be a memorable experience for you. Remember to say 'no' to drugs, to look out for your friends, and to remove yourself from any situation that makes you feel uncomfortable. And if you need assistance or support at any time, or would simply like someone to talk to, the Schoolies volunteers are never too far away.

Have a wonderful Schoolies Week on the Gold Coast!
