Position: Events Intern
Availability: Minimum 2 days per week in the lead-up to events, with full availability required from 15 November to 5 December
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Events Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience.
This is an awesome opportunity for someone currently studying events, marketing, hospitality, tourism or a related field to gain genuine industry experience and see what goes into taking an event from the planning stage through to delivery and post-event review.
You won't just be observing from the sidelines. You'll work alongside our events team and be involved in everything from event preparation to bump-in, customer entry, venue coordination and bump-out.
In the lead-up to the event period, you'll work with us a minimum of 2 days per week. We can be flexible around university and other commitments when deciding which days you work.
During our main event period, 15 November to 5 December, full availability is required, including nights and weekends.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Your responsibilities will vary depending on what's happening that day, but may include:
- Assisting with the planning and coordination of upcoming events.
- Supporting the events team with event logistics, schedules and run sheets.
- Attending venue walkthroughs.
- Assisting with event bump-in, setup, operations and bump-out.
- Liaising with suppliers and other event stakeholders.
- Assisting with customer entry, including ticket scanning and managing entry points.
- Helping troubleshoot issues that arise during live events.
- Providing general customer service and helping create a positive experience for attendees.
- Supporting general event administration and organisation.
- Assisting with post-event reviews and analysis.
- Pitching in wherever needed to help the team successfully deliver each event.
ABOUT YOU
This role would suit someone looking to build their experience and start a career in the events industry. Ideally, you will be:
- Currently studying Event Management, Business, Marketing, Tourism, Hospitality or a similar field.
- Genuinely interested in pursuing a career within events.
- A confident and strong communicator.
- Comfortable dealing with customers, staff, suppliers and venue representatives.
- Organised and able to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Confident using computers and learning new systems.
- Reliable and able to work independently when required.
- Proactive and willing to take initiative when required.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where plans can change quickly.
- A team player who is also comfortable taking responsibility for tasks.
- Energetic, positive and excited to learn.
Previous experience working at events, festivals, venues, hospitality or in a customer-facing role would be highly regarded, but isn't essential. We're more interested in finding someone capable, switched-on and genuinely keen to learn.
WHAT YOU'LL GET FROM THE INTERNSHIP
This is designed to provide real-world event experience, not just something to add to your resume. You'll gain exposure to:
- Event planning and logistics.
- Live event operations.
- Event staffing and team coordination.
- Customer and ticketing operations.
- Event setup and pack-down.
- Post-event reporting and analysis.
- The complete event lifecycle, from planning through to delivery and review.
You'll work directly with an experienced team and have the opportunity to take on more responsibility as you become comfortable in the role.
AVAILABILITY
In the lead-up to our event period, you'll need to be available for a minimum of 2 days per week, with flexibility around which days these are.
From 15 November through to 5 December, you must have full availability, as this is our busiest event period. This will include a mixture of daytime, evening and weekend work depending on the event schedule.
